Sherman M4A1r den viktigaste amerikanska medelstora stridsvagnen från andra världskriget. Tillverkad åren 1942-1945 blev den den mest kända amerikanska stridsvagnen. Under kriget utvecklades det dynamiskt. Den var utrustad med en 75 mm kanon. Ammunitionen och den brännbara motorn gjorde till en början Shermans till ett lätt mål för de tyngre tyska stridsvagnarna. Först efter att konstruktionen hade finslipats kunde rollerna vändas om. Totalt producerades cirka 49 000 av alla versioner av Sherman. Tanken användes bland annat av arméerna i USA, Storbritannien, Polen, Frankrike och Sovjetunionen. Den hade ett rykte som en pålitlig, lätttillverkad och välbeväpnad stridsvagn.

The M4 Sherman is the main American medium tank from the Second World War. Produced in the years 1942-1945, it became the most recognizable American tank. During the war, it was dynamically developed. It was equipped with a 75 mm cannon. The ammunition and the flammable engine made the Shermans initially an easy target for the heavier German tanks. Only after the construction was refined, the roles could be reversed. A total of approximately 49,000 of all versions of the Sherman were produced. The tank was used, among others by the army of the USA, Great Britain, Poland, France and the USSR. It had a reputation as a reliable, easy-to-manufacture and well-armed tank.
