The motor is optimized for driving 3.5Inch freestyle tri-blade propellers on 4S battery voltage. On the thrust test stand and in the air, Chris Rosser found the Supernova 1605 drastically outperforms other 3.5Inch motor options such as 1404 and 1804, producing significantly more thrust and a much faster response without sacrificing efficiency. For smooth and precise low-throttle control combined with strong top-end power, AOS recommends applying throttle expo in Betaflight. Start with Throttle MID = 0 and Throttle EXPO = 0.20, then adjust the EXPO value to fine-tune the desired throttle response. Increase EXPO for greater precision at low throttle, or reduce it for a sharper and more aggressive response.
